Hundreds of Taoism believers thronged the Tong Wah Cave Temple to celebrate the birthday of the Jade of Emperor yesterday 27 November 2011. They climbed as high as 600 meters up the hill where the temple is located.

The celebration started since morning with the burning of giant joss sticks as well as coiled joss sticks. Many come to offer prayers and also to seek the help of the Jade of Emperor.

According to Taoism and Chinese Folk Culture, the Jade Emperor also known as Yu Huang Da Di (玉皇大帝) is the ruler of heaven and all realms of existence below including that of Man and Hell. Details of Jade Emperor can be found here.

The ceremony was led by a sifu or Kung Kung who will go on a trance to act as medium between the Jade Emperor and the believers. At the end of the ceremony they were all treated to a sumptuous meal donated by well wishes.
